Under Katyń

A story of loss, inheritance and reconciliation, rooted in the writer's Polish family history and the long shadow of the Katyń massacre.

The story
on stage.

Set in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Forest of Arden in 1990, Under Katyń brings two families together across the fault line of the 1940 Katyń massacre. A private search for family becomes a public act of remembrance—and an attempt to reconcile inheritance with the present.

Danny Masewicz drew on his own Polish family history. The first production was dedicated to the victims and families of the Katyń Forest murders, including his grandfather, Second Lieutenant Witold Masewicz.
