My Child, Oh My Child

Eight voices meet in a public library. Their stories of exile, adoption and survival become a common consciousness carried through speech, mime and image.

The story
on stage.

Iza searches for the son she relinquished to adoption. In a Stratford community centre she meets eight Polish immigrants, whose stories of courage, exile and survival help her move towards reunion. Separate lives become a shared dramatic consciousness through speech, mime, image and transformation.

The play grew from extensive Copernicana interviews with Polish residents of Stratford-upon-Avon. Danny Masewicz shaped their testimony into drama and discovered that his own adoption story formed its heart: the final part of A Polish Trilogy.
